Seguin, TX at a Glance
One of the oldest towns in Texas,
Seguin offers a small town feel just 35 mi (56 km) from San
Antonio and 15 mi (25 km) from New
Braunfels. Named after Colonel Juan N. Seguin, a Tejano patriot, the town
honors this soldier with the Seguin
Statue, which stands high in Downtown
Seguin. Historic attractions are embedded in this town and are exemplified
at the Sebastopol
House State Historic Site, a unique home built in 1856 from limecrete. Over
the years, the Texas
Agricultural Education and Heritage Center has been transformed into a tourist
attraction, as it interactively promotes the heritage of farming and ranching
in Texas. Visitors in Seguin also have the opportunity to engage in numerous activities,
such as horseback riding at the Blue
Streak Riding Stable and golfing at Max
Starcke Park Golf Course. Also on the park grounds is the Seguin
Aquatic Center—a popular summertime destination for families that boasts a
wave pool.
